The challenges and responsibilities of businesses, highlighted in this book’s subtitle, are mirrored in those that confronted me as the author. In a fast-moving business environment, capturing the changes taking place in both businesses and societies is essential for a textbook addressed to business students. At the same time, foundation concepts and background information, presented in a balanced and orderly format are essential in order for readers to make sense of what is happening around them – and what might happen in the future.
